Privacy policy.

Plain language, no surprises. We collect what we need to help your student, and nothing for advertising.

Who we are

Altior Academy ("Altior," "we") is a college admissions consultancy in the San Francisco Bay Area, operated by SEOD LLC, 480 Sutter St, San Francisco, CA 94108. This policy covers altioracademy.com and Ascend, our student and parent portal. Questions go to eric@seod.com.

What we collect

  • When you contact us: parent name, email, phone, student grade, preferred language, and anything you write in the message.
  • When your family enrolls: parent and student names and emails, school, grade, courses and grades, test scores, activities, service hours, goals, and the plans, notes and reports we write together in Ascend.
  • When you pay: payments are processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation and the last four digits; we never see or store full card or bank numbers.
  • When you sign in: an essential cookie that keeps you signed in.
  • When you visit: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and troubleshooting.

What we do not do

We do not sell or rent personal information, share it for advertising, or use advertising or tracking pixels on this site or in Ascend. We do not track visitors across other sites, so browser Do Not Track signals do not change anything we do.

How we use it

To answer your inquiry, deliver the services your family chose, write parent reports, schedule meetings, send receipts, and meet legal and tax obligations. Mentors see only the students they work with. Parents see their own students. Students see their own work and cannot see parent reports.

Who processes it for us

Supabase (database), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email) and Stripe (payments). Each handles data only to provide its service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect a student's safety.

Students and children

Ascend student accounts are only for students in grades 9 to 12 who are 13 or older, and a parent or guardian enrolls them. We do not create accounts for students in grades 6 to 8; those families use a parent account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.

How long we keep it

  • Inquiries and seminar signups that do not become an enrollment: up to 24 months.
  • Student records, plans, counseling notes and reports in Ascend: until 12 months after the student's final application cycle ends, then deleted.
  • Student essays and drafts: the student's own work. We keep copies only while we are working together and delete them with the student's records; the family can download them first.
  • Agreements, invoices and payment records: as long as tax and business law require, generally up to 7 years.
  • Staff and employment records: as long as employment law requires.
  • Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention settings.

A parent can ask us to delete records sooner, unless the law requires us to keep them or they are subject to a legal hold.

Your choices

The parent who enrolls a student keeps access to that student's Ascend records for the length of the program, including after the student turns 18; both parent and student agree to this at enrollment. A parent, or a student 18 or older, can ask to see, correct, download or delete the information we hold by emailing eric@seod.com. We respond within 30 days.

Security

Access in Ascend is enforced row by row in the database, traffic is encrypted, and staff accounts use multi-factor authentication. If a breach ever affects your information, we will notify you as California law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date below and, for enrolled families, tell you by email before the change takes effect. Last updated September 30, 2026.
