The Korean method,
applied to American admissions.
In Korea, education is treated as a discipline. Hours are accounted for. Progress is measured. Standards are held high by everyone in the room. We bring that framework to US college admissions, gently and patiently, and we pair it with mentors who studied at the schools your child hopes to attend.
What discipline looks like.
Every Altior engagement rests on the same three pillars. They are what Korean education gets right, and what most US admissions consulting tends to miss.
Every season accounted for
Quarterly planning meetings with your child set the agenda for the season. Brief checkins between meetings keep work moving. Quarterly reviews with the family take a step back to look at the longer arc. We are reachable by email and phone whenever a family needs us, and we respond promptly.
Structure removes the ambiguity that lets four years go missing.
The bar stays high
We give honest feedback, even when it is hard to hear. We do not call an essay finished when it is not, and we do not call a student ready when more work would help. Children rise to the standard we set, and ours is the standard the schools they want will set in three years.
Honest standards, set with care, are the kindest gift a mentor can give.
Taught by people who got in
Every mentor on the Altior team holds a degree from an Ivy League university or a peer institution. They read essays the way an admissions officer reads essays, because they once wrote the essay that got them in.
Strategy is only as good as the experience behind it.
How a month at Altior looks.
The method works because the cadence holds. Here is what a typical month looks like for a family enrolled in any of our long-term programs.
Once a quarter · Planning meeting with your child
One careful, focused 60-minute planning meeting each quarter, in person where possible and by video where not. Work reviewed line by line. Test progress checked. The next quarter's plan set in writing in Ascend. Your child leaves the meeting knowing exactly what to work on, and why.
Between meetings · Regular check-ins
Short progress updates by message or call between planning meetings, so nothing slips. Drafts come back with feedback in days, not weeks. The student feels supported, not waiting.
Always · Email and phone access
Whenever the family has a question, large or small, we want to hear it. We respond promptly and we treat every question like a real one. We are your child's mentor team, and we are reachable.
Each quarter · Family strategy review
Every three months we sit with parents and student together to look at the bigger picture. What has changed. What still matters. What we adjust for the quarter ahead.
Our principles.
1. Admissions is not magic. It is the result of years of consistent, careful decisions. We do not believe in miracle essays or last-minute saves. We believe in cadence.
2. Honest feedback is a gift. We will tell you, in plain language, when an essay is not yet working, when a student is not reaching far enough, or when the school list needs adjusting. We are kind, and we tell the truth.
3. Every student does the work. We do not write essays for students. We do not invent experiences. The student does the work. We hold the standard, and provide the tools.
4. Parents matter. The cadence we set works best when parents support it at home. The strongest families are the ones where the standard set in our meetings is the same standard set at the dinner table.
5. We say no when the fit is wrong. If a student is not ready, or a different kind of help would serve the family better, we say so on the fit call. Honest fit comes first.
Experience the method.
A 20-minute fit call will show you, concretely, what working with Altior looks like. There is no pressure to enroll. The first conversation is honest, and it is on us.
