The journey begins early.
In Korea, families serious about a top university often begin preparing in elementary school. By middle school, study habits, reading volume, and mathematics fluency are already in place. The American system rarely requires this, but the families who quietly invest the time produce the students who fill Ivy League classrooms.
Middle School Early Start is for families who want their child to enter 9th grade already steady and confident. Not in a rush, not anxious, just well-prepared.
"The students who walk into Harvard did not decide they wanted to in 11th grade. Their families decided in 6th, and the student grew into the standard, gently."
Who this is for
- Families with a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader who hope, long-term, for an Ivy League or top US university.
- Parents who believe academic ambition is built slowly, not declared at the last minute.
- Students who are bright and curious, and ready to be challenged thoughtfully now while school is still relatively easy.
- Families who want the discipline of the Korean tradition, applied gently and age-appropriately.
What we build during these years
Reading
A weekly reading load that builds vocabulary, comprehension, and the intellectual range that high school English and college essays both ask for. Tracked, discussed, and held to with care.
Mathematics
Working ahead of grade level on a structured plan. By 9th grade, your child is ready for the Honors and AP track that opens the most doors.
First competitions
AMC 8, MATHCOUNTS, debate, science fair, and writing competitions. Not for the trophies, but for the habit of preparing carefully for things that matter.
The long view
By the end of 8th grade, the family has a clear plan for the four years ahead. Course choices, summer plans, the activities to commit to, and the story your child is quietly building.
What's included
- Quarterly planning meetings with your mentor, with brief checkins between them.
- Regular check-ins between meetings to keep work moving.
- Email and phone access to the mentor team for the family.
- Reading list management with thoughtful, discussion-based accountability.
- Mathematics roadmap and tutoring referrals where helpful.
- Competition selection and preparation support.
- Summer planning for grades 6 to 8.
- High school course selection planning the spring before 9th grade.
- Annual strategy review with the founder.
A note for parents
We are direct with families about what this program asks of a child, and we are equally careful not to ask too much. The Korean approach to early academics is not for every household, and we will say so when it is not the right fit. On a fit call we ask about your child's temperament, your family's bandwidth, and the standard you want set at home. Honest fit matters here more than in any other program we run.
